Friday's lunch record is "John Hammond, Southern Fried" (1970). Wonderful blues tock album, John once again samples songs by the blues legends. A strong electric flavor to this discand the addition of a horn secttion. Thursday's lunch record is "The Ray Charles Story Volume One" (1962) r. 1952-1956.  This is a super collection of Ray's hot rockin' Atlantic recordings from the early fifties. R & B was the music that was shaking the world apart and these tracks made it on to the air and into juke boxes, many refered it to rock & roll. Nine of the 15 tracks were Ray's songs, "I've Got A Woman". "Halleujah I Love Her so", "This Little Girl Of Mine", "Don't You Know" along with the others. Wednesday's lunch record is "Blue Cheer, Vincebus Eruptum" (1968). This album is a landmark record the big start of heavy , heavy loud blues based rock. A tinge of psychedelic flavor is added in with a big burst of ferocity. This three piece power rock grroup made  the rock scene come alive with this their debut album.  There is only three songs per side, there version of "Eddie Cochrans" Summertime Blues along with "B.B. Kings" Rock me Baby plus four more. This album was recorded loud and should be played and enjoyed loud. This is comedic jazz or blues, Old style vaudeville type of tempo or pace to this somewhat bawdy humor and song. Friday's lunch record is "Ray Charles, Modern Sounds In Country And Western Music" (1962). I have heard it said and have seen it in print claiming this album to be the best of all time. This is argueably a landmark album.in American music but my jury isn't that quick to agree. Ray's work integrating two musical forms, soul and country into a new package of bigger than life sound was more than just pleasing it was a huge successful hit. Jack Bruce on bass and vocals formerly with Manfred Mann, Graham Bond and John Mayall. Ginger Baker on drums, formerly with Graham Bond organization. Wednesday's lunch record is "Harold Betters, Out Of Sight and Sound" (1966). A wonderful jazz album recorded on Reprise records. Harold is a tasteful  skilled trombone jazz misician. This album has smany big hits of the day. "Watermellon Man",  "On A Clear Day", "Unchained Melody", "When A man loves A Woman", along with many others. It is a fun delightful listen of what was big in the mid sixties. The top studio musicians accompany "Sam The Man" on this frantic disc, Saan has been one of the key honkers to create this new music which swept the nation. Goree on guitar along with two saxophones, trumpet, piano, bass and drums. Many rock fans attribute his song "Rock Awhile" (1949) as the very first rock & roll record. Others attribute Ike Turner with his "Rocket 88" (1951) to be the first rock & roll record. His playing style influenced many other r&b guitarists, T-Bone Walker, B.B. King and Chuck Berry.
