Many are folk blues with a few eelectric blues. An accomplished blues writer and singer. This vocal harmony group was a strong rythm and blues singing stars. This album has sixteen tracks of one of the finest vocal  harmony groups at the time. Thursday's lunch record is "Canned Heat, Future Blues" (1970). This is the fifth album by Canned Heat. Great rock blues that even touches a twinge of pyschedelic musical flavor. The bands line up was altered, Henry Vestine the lead guitar was replaced by Harvey Mandel. Bob Hite sang those gravely blues and Larry  Taylor layed the foundation on bass. Maxwell Davis was the arranger along with adding the heat with his rocking sax playing. This is very cool jumping R&B or some say rock n' roll. The masters were obtained from Modern records a west coast rythm label. They had many R&B hits during the mid fifties. "Stranded In The Jungle" , "Annie Met Henry", "Love Bandit" that were monster hits and still rock. This is fun vocal group fun music. Tuesday's lunch record is "Canned Heat, Hallelujah" (1969). This is their fourth album and it is a rock blues favorite. Larry Taylor on bass, Alan Wilson slide guitar, harp, Mark Naftalin on piano, Henry Vestine lead guitar with Bob Hite chewing out the vocals. This is a great album from the tumultrous rebellious period during the Viet Nam war era. Rock festivals and protests were constant. The jacket and the quality of the pressings on their vinyl us low quality. The essence of Elmore James music is not. The so called king of the slide guitar is an inspirational interpreter of the blues. His singing is original along with creativity. Wednesday's lunch record is "Canned Heat, Vintage (1970) r.1966. This classic Canned Heat album was produced by rythm & blues legend Johnny Otis. The music all of which is blues was recorded in 1966 but wasn't released to album format until 1970 to the delight of many Canned Heat lovers. They covered these "Spoonful" by Willie Dixon, "Rollin' And Tunblin' " by Muddy Waters, "Got My Mojo Working" by Muddy Waters. "Pretty Thing" by "Willie Dixon", "Louise" by Howling Wolf, "Dimples" by John Lee Hooker, "Can't Hold On Much Longer" by Little Walter plus a few of their own songs which are also rooted in the blues. Gato on the tenor saxophoneand accompianed by jazz standouts Lonnie Liston Smith on piano and electric piano. Joe Beck on electric guitar, Ron Carter on bass and  Lonnie White on drums. Gato is from Argentina and is an electic, intensely lyrical and expressive creator of music. A strong jump vocal group, their are some that feel they were the first ones to have a rock & roll record with their 1951 record "Don't You Know I Love You". My jury is still out on that opinion.
