John Coltrane, Black Pearls (1964)
Friday's lunch record is "John Coltrane, Black Pearls" (1964). This music was recorded in 1958 but this album wasn't released until 1964. The entire second side is one song "Sweet Saphire Blues", an improvised jazz blues created to fill the album. Record producers are so demanding. John Coltrane takes care of buisness and blows that inovative horn of his backed by DonaldByrd (trumpet), Red Garland (piano),Paul Chambers (bass),and Art Taylor (drums) The YouTube sample song from this album is "Black Pearls" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grdV-iNIsQs . . . . . bucko
