Friday's lunch record is the collection "The Shouters". This is a double gate-fold album a reissue of classic early R&B on the Savoy label. This reissue came out in 1980 on the Arista label. This is vol. 9 of 19 in the roots of rock n' roll. Today's listen is sides 3 & 4. Side 3 features wild blues shouter H-Bomb Fergusen (vocal). A growly rough risqué singer and performer. His band featured Purvis Henson on (tenor sax) these tracks are from 1951-52. Side 4 features Nappy Brown (vocal) Budd Johnson, Al Sears (tenor sax), Mickey Baker (guitar), Milt Hinton (bass).
