Various, Honkers & Screamers Roots Of Rock 'n' Roll Vol.6 (1979) r.1948-49
Thursday's lunch record is the collection Honkers & Screamers. This is a double gate-fold album. Originally recorded on the Savoy label. This reissue is on Arista records. Today's listen is sides one & two. This album is volume 6 of 12 in the roots of rock 'n' roll series. These tracks from 1948-49 are the wild tear em' up instrumentals featuring a hot tenor sax man blowin' the  hot romp and stomp R&B. These tracks are rock and roll in the early jazz expression. Artists are Hal Singer (tenor sax) , Paul Williams (baritone sax) and their respective bands. The YouTube sample song is "Beef Stew" (Hal Singer 1948) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ancjJDpczA . . bucko
