Friday's lunch record is "Sugarboy Crawford, James "Sugarboy" Crawford" (1984) r.1954. This is a double album collection of his songs that he cut for Lenard Chess in 1954 for the Checker label. Today we listen to sides one and two. Strong New Orleans blues and rythm & blues singer , With his band the "Shaweez" that was chaanged by Chess to the "Cane Cutters" because Lenard prefered it. Snooks Englin plays guitar and Frank Fields on bass, SugarBoy vocals and piano. This is wild rompin' r&b that makes you move.
