Tuesday's lunch record was "Count Basie, One O' Clock Jump" (1957) r. 1941-1951. This is a wonderful collection of Basie's big band from the 1940's up to the early fifties. His tight orchestra honking out their bluesy swinging jazz. Many super musicians featured on these tracks. Freddy Green (guitar), Jo Jones (drums), Walter Page (bass), Buddy Tate & Illinois Jacquet (sax), Jimmy Rushing (vocal) and many more. This is one of the cream of the crop albums. The YouTube sample song is "Ain't It The Truth" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCoboaJkx-U . . . . bucko
