John Hammond, Southern Fried (1970)

Friday's lunch record is "John Hammond, Southern Fried" (1970). Wonderful blues tock album, John once again samples songs by the blues legends. A strong electric flavor to this discand the addition of a horn secttion. Songs include "Shake For Me", "Don't Go No Further", You'll Be Mine" (Willie Dixon), "Nadine" (Chuck Berry),  plus eight other dynamite tracks. Thursday's lunch record is "The Ray Charles Story Volume One" (1962) r. 1952-1956.  This is a super collection of Ray's hot rockin' Atlantic recordings from the early fifties. R & B was the music that was shaking the world apart and these tracks made it on to the air and into juke boxes, many refered it to rock & roll. Nine of the 15 tracks were Ray's songs, "I've Got A Woman". "Halleujah I Love Her so", "This Little Girl Of Mine", "Don't You Know" along with the others. Blue Cheer, Vincebus Eruptum (1968)

Wednesday's lunch record is "Blue Cheer, Vincebus Eruptum" (1968). This album is a landmark record the big start of heavy , heavy loud blues based rock. A tinge of psychedelic flavor is added in with a big burst of ferocity. This three piece power rock grroup made  the rock scene come alive with this their debut album.  There is only three songs per side, there version of "Eddie Cochrans" Summertime Blues along with "B.B. Kings" Rock me Baby plus four more. This album was recorded loud and should be played and enjoyed loud. Tuesday's lunch record is "Butterbeans & Susie" (1976) r.1960. This record was released on the Classic Jazz label (CJ) 29. Recorded in 1960 it is a thrill to listen to this comedy duo perform . This is comedic jazz or blues, Old style vaudeville type of tempo or pace to this somewhat bawdy humor and song. Musicians areEddie Heywood (piano), Leonard Gakin (bas), Jimmy Crawford (drums), Gene Sedeic (clarinet), Benny Morton (trrombone), Earl Warren (sax). This is a fun romping good time album. Monday's lunch record is "John Hammond, I'm Satisfied" (1972). This great blues album was recorded on Colimbia Records and produced by Delaney Bramlett. John lays down his versions of many blues standards. like "Further Up The Road" and "From Four Unttil Late".
