These are rockin' R&B tracks from the late 1940's. His song 'Rock the Joint" is believed by many as the first rock 'n roll song (that debate continues).  Needless this  music is the launching pad for R&R. This is hard bop jazz which helped set the groundwork of rhythm & blues. They each feature the small band format with talented side men on piano, bass, tenor, trumpet and drums.
