Lonie Smith, Think! (1968)
Tuesday's lunch record is the second album by Lonnie Smith recorded on Blue Note records. Lonnie shows his artistic mastery of the Hammond B3 organ. This is straight forward jazz demonstrating the basic elements of rhythm, melody and tonal colors. He is joined by David 'Fat Head' Newman (tenor sax), Lee Morgan (trumpet), Melvin Sparks (guitar) and Marion Booker (drums). The title song "Think!" is a melodic interpretation of Aretha Franklins huge hit. The YouTube sample song is "Slouchin' " https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wy-Uq4G6Imc . . bucko
