Friday's lunch record is "The Beatles, Rubber Soul" (1965). This popular folk rock album leans neavily on pop with a hint of soul in it's precentationn. This was the Beatles first album entirely of their own compositions and sold very well, immensely popular. A money making hit for them in the states. Gene Ammons, The Black Cat (1971)
Thursday's lunch record is "Gene Ammons, The Black Cat" (1971). An absolutely stunning jazz-soul masterpiece from the man with the big tenor sax. This album sounds as if it ccould have been recorded yesterday. This is a timeless work of art. The talented musicians with Gene are George Freeman (guitar), Harod Mabern (piano, electric piano), Ron Carter (bass) and Idris Muhammad (drums). Wednesday's lunch record is "Lowell Fulson, Chess Masters Serie"s (1976). This is a double album and todays listen is sides 3&4. Great blues recordings from 1957-1962 on the famous Chess record label. The raucous "Rock em Dead"., "Worry Worry", "Blue Shadows", "K.C. Bound" and many other classic blues. Outstandding musicians inlude :Lloyd Glenn (piano), Billie Hadnot (bass), Eddie Chamblee (tenor sax) along with additional plauers.
