He spent many nights gigging at the Dew Drop Inn a popular rhythm club . Playing with contemporary's Bobby Mitchell, Tommy Ridgley & Larry Darnell. Billy was a performer with a flamboyant flashy style, he encouraged and influenced Little Richard in his early years. His rhythm & blues songs and show were part of the ground work for rock n' roll. The title was a huge hit and theme song for Lee Allen.  He was the sax man behind Little Richards hit records of the mid 50's and also one of the horns with Fats Domino.
