Lonnie Smith, Turning Point (1969)
Monday's lunch record is the second album for Lonnie Smith (organ) on Blue Note records. This soul-jazz outing dances on the line of main stream jazz. He is joined by Melvin Sparks on guitar, Lee Morgan (trumpet, Julian Priester (trombone). Bennie Maupin (tenor sax), Leo Morris (drums). They perform a couple covers, "See-Saw" (Covay), "Eleanor Rigby" (Lenon-McCarney). The YouTube sample song is "Slow High" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-pQJYn3_hY . . bucko
