Aretha Franklin, : Soul '69 (1969)

Aretha Franklin, : Soul '69 (1969)
Wednesday's lunch record is by the queen of soul Aretha Franklin. This album was her 16th and is on the Atlantic record label. She covers several current songs: "Rivers Invitation" (Percy Mayfield). "Ramblin" (Maybelle Smith), "Bring It On Home To Me" (Sam Cooke), "Tracks Of My Tears" (Smokey Robison), "Elusive Butterfly" (Bob Lind), "Gentle On My Mind" (John Hartford) along with others. Acclaimed as one of her best recordings of the 60's it is ripe with sophisticated blues and funk. The YouTube sample song is "If You Gotta Make A Fool Of Somebody" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=escWFnqlMWw . . bucko
