Monday's lunch record is this fun album on Motown's Soul label. Jr. Walker blasts that big tenor sax and takes the lead vocals. As in most live albums there is thee raw edge of excitement. Friday's lunch record is the killer blues of the Butterfield Blues Band. This is a double gate fold album. Today's listens are sides 1 & 4. Paul Butterfield on blues harmonica, piano and the blues singing. He honed his skills in Chicago a disciple of the Muddy Waters influence. This live album on Elektra Records captures the power of his eight piece blues band highlighting the dynamic draw he achieved. This music signifies the great music of the rock festival era. Young Holt Unlimited, Born Again (1971)
Wednesday's lunch record is a soul / jazz work by Eldee young (bass) and Redd Holt (drums). This album came during those unrestful times after Martin Luther King Jr. was killed and the Viet Nam war. Young and Holt previously members of the Ramsey Lewis Trio. On this album they are joined by Bobby Lyle on piano/organ, Kenneth Chaney electric piano or Marylean Holt on piano.
