Gene Ammons, My Way (1971)

Friday's lunch record is "Gene Ammons, My Way" (1971). A fine soul jazz album with a flavor of easy listening. The use of strings on a few songs is interesting. There is Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On", Burt Bacharach's "A House Is Not A Home", the title song :My Way" by Paul Anka. Many quality players are on board, Idris Mohammed (drums), Chuck Rainey or Ron carter (bass), Roland Hanna (electric piano) along with others.Dated but enjoyable jazz on Prestige Records.
