Tuesday's lunch record is the second album by Lonnie Smith recorded on Blue Note records. Lonnie shows his artistic mastery of the Hammond B3 organ. This is straight forward jazz demonstrating the basic elements of rhythm, melody and tonal colors. He is joined by David 'Fat Head' Newman (tenor sax), Lee Morgan (trumpet), Melvin Sparks (guitar) and Marion Booker (drums). Friday's lunch record is the Cootie Williams orchestra. Cootie a hot trumpet player and band leader. He was an alumni of Duke Ellington and the Count Basie bands. His band leaned on the blues based big band swing style. An early founder of hot rhythm& blues with soaring sax or trumpet solos. His show was a main stay at the Savoy or Apollo in New York. Thursday's lunch record is the early rock & roll album 'Slow Walk Rock' by Sil Austin. This is the saxophone lead combo that has the new beat that drives teen-agers wild.
