Thursday's lunch record is "Little Walter, I Hate To See You Go" (1969) r. 1952-1960. This signature blues album contains some of the most significant blues recordings to ever come out of Chicago. Little Walter was the pioneer of the blues harp. It is felt he was the first to amplify the harp by blowing directly into a microphone. This makes the list of one of those desert island records. The last two songs are live recordings from the war memorial in Nashville TN. in 1974. THis is high quality southern rock or country rock. Charlie sings, plays guitar or the fiddle. A compilation of 15 unissued recordings of Little Walter.He had the touch of magic in the way he played the blues harp. Fortunate to spend many years in the Muddy Waters blues band. These he is backed ny Louis & Dave Meyers (guitar), Robert Lockwood (guitar), Willie Dixon (bass), Otis Span (piano), Fred Below Drums. There is many others that are on tracks in this album. Wednesday's lunch record is "Devo, Q:Are We Not Men" (1978). This album is new wave rock from a provocative band from Germany. This is their first album and they had sent promos to David Bowie and Iggy Pop in hopes they would back them by producing this album. They both were unable . The cover photo is norphed together pictures of Chi Chi Rodriguez the golfer and Presidents: Ford, Nixon, Kennedy and Johnson.This is exciting music and their stage show was futuristic entertainment. Tuesday's lunch record is "Count Basie"  (1965). This reissue compilation on MGM's Metro label is an excellent collection of Counts big bands offerings. It is a jazz swing-fest with his tight rythm section backed by many of the best musicians of their day. Frank Foster (sax), Joe Newman (sax) along with many others. Friday's lunch record is "The Dominoes, 21 Hits" (1976 r.1952-60. This fabulous compilation of Billy Ward and the Dominoes covers their golden years of 1952-60. This is top shelf vocal group harmony that drives that rockin' beat. The lead vocalist are Clyde McPhatter fronting the group then Jackie Wilson ttook the helm as lead vocalist. Thursday's lunch record is "Les Dudek, Say No More" (1977). This album is a nice blend of commercial rock, pop with a funky overtone. Excellent guitar and bass playing spiph up this late seventies music. Well done horn arrangements complement the tracks. Another example of a fine musician that isn't a vocalist. Wednesday's lunch record is "John Coltrane Featuring Pharoah Sanders, Live in Seatle"  (1965) /1971. This is a doulble live album. Recorded live in Seatle in 1965 not released until 1971 after John's death. Coltrane andd Pharoah share the spotlight on the sax. McCoy Tyner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Elvin Jones on drums. The musical journey is atonal and very progressively expeerimenta, I honestly don't gey alot of this new expression. This pristine rock vocal group featured the stunning lead vocals of Clyde McPhatter previosly of the Dominoes. They quickly became the top R&B favorite of juke box listeners and radio airplay. Tiny Bradshaw, (1956)

Friday's lunch record is "Tiny Bradshaw,  (1956). This long playing album is the latest addition to my collection.It is an ultra rare album.This copy is in poor condition but still plays. Tiny led a powerhouse big band  that was jumpy, bouncy and played super sharp Rythm and Blues. The tenors sax was played by Red Prysock  and then Sil Austin. Wednesday's lunch record is "John Coltrane, Transitions" (1965). A fascinating exploration of new forms of jazz from the creative musical imagination of Tranes' vision. This is the new avenue of the musical expressions that filled him. On this album he is joined by McCoy Turner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Elvin Jones on drums. Being a live concert it is the typical long jams on two of the three songs presented. The jam songs which are rooted in their blues material. "Good Morning Little Schoolgirl", "Same Thing". Tuesday's lunch record is "Larry Darnell, I'll Get Along Somehow" (1981) r. 1949-1957. This is a wonderful compilation of one of the finest jump blues singers during the fifties. Larry Darnell had a powerful and passionate voice usually backed by the slick big band of Paul Geyton. He had numerous successful hit records and was known as "Mr. Heart & Soul". He helped set the table of what was being called rock and roll and he did it with elegance, graceful singing his good looks and awesome stage presence.
