John Coltrane, Transitions (1965)

Wednesday's lunch record is "John Coltrane, Transitions" (1965). A fascinating exploration of new forms of jazz from the creative musical imagination of Tranes' vision. This is the new avenue of the musical expressions that filled him. On this album he is joined by McCoy Turner on piano, Jimmy Garrison on bass and Elvin Jones on drums. These performances are one of the singular odysseys in jazz history. The YouTube sample track is "Dear Lord"  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKfMy4FR_EY . . . . bucko
