Dave Brubeck's Greatest Hits (1966)
Tuesday's lunch record is "Dave Brubeck's Greatest Hits" (1966). This is a wonderful collection of the quartets incredible works. Recordings from the 1950's and into the 1960's. Of course "Take Five" is included along with "I'm In A Dancing Mood", "In Your Sweet Way", The fun "Camptown Races", "The Duke", The syncopated "It's A Raggy Waltz", from 1955 the brazilian flavored "Bossa Nova U.S.A.", "Trolley Song", the tricky 7/4 time "Unsquare Dance" and the difficult time signature of "Blue Rondo a la Turk". These songs are all cool jazz masterpieces that seem to get even better with ttime. The YouTube sample song is "Theme Frome Mr.Broadway" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26xHoKjm2Ig . . . . bucko
