The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Time Out (1959)

Wednesday's lunch record is "The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Time Out" (1959). This is a stand out jazz exploration album. Dave takes the listener on a trip through many different time signatures. Instead of the traditional 4/4 time used in most jazz, blues and rock we are introduced  to an array of different tempo's.  There is 9/4time, 3/4 time, 6.4 time and on the giant hit "Take Five" it is played in 5/4 time . Dave (piano) is joined by Paul Desmond (sax), Eugene Wright (bass) and Joe Morello on (drums) The YouTube sample song is "Everybody's Jumpin'"  (in 6/4) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABISLEchYLE . . . bucko. .
