Harry Belefonte, Calypso (1956)
Tuesday's lunch record is "Harry Belefonte, Calypso" (1956). This was a giant hit album that stayed a number one selling record for several months. Hary Belafonte layed that cutting blues edge into his music from Jamaica and the islands. His musical style helped pave the way for the onslaught of raggae music. These sounds frrom the Caribbean are joyful and enticing. The YouTube sample song from this album is "Brown Skin Girl" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEbtg-akYDA . . . bucko
