Tiny Bradshaw, The Great Composer (1988) r. 1953-54
Thursday's lunch record is by Tiny Bradshaw. This is a reissue album of recordings Tiny and his orchestra made in 1953-1954 for the King-Federal label. Tiny led one of the hottest jump blues R&B show bands. They were known for the up-tempo swinging style. Hot saxes blowin' up a storm. Premiere sax men Red Prysock, Sil Austin, Rufus Gore and Nobel Watts spent time in his band. Tiny wrote arranged, sang along with front showman of the band. His sounds were the catapult for rock & roll. The YouTube sample song is "Free For All" (Red Prysock) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF88EQh-nsI . . bucko
